where crafting (of all sorts) and politics collide.

Matt Lauer, do your research.

While watching the Today Show Tuesday morning, which is rare considering I’m usually watching Curious George or something of the like at that hour, I saw a segment on the “financial cost of cancer”.
The entire segment was on the financial devistation of families because of their insurance, going into detail regarding how a particular family “did everything right” in regards to insurance and yet were still financially devistated.
Jean Chatzky was on, as well as one of NBC’s own contributing doctors, Dr. Nancy Snyderman. After discussing how AWFUL insurance is, Matt Lauer asked the doctor “And if you think about it, THIS happens to these people who had insurance, what about the 46 million people who dont have insurance or are under insured, not only do they have to pay the out of pocket, now they have to pay the rest of it.”
I think Matt may have found Dr. Snyderman’s response a bit humbling considering his very leading question. “Sometimes,” Snyderman answered, “when you have nothing, you can access the care all the way through, through your public hospital, and you have a better chance of accessing everything. It’s really the people who play by the rules, who frankly, come up short.”

Once again, the people who do the right thing get the short end of the stick. (Though that’s not what Matt Lauer thought.) We are paying extravagant amounts for ourselves and families, while those who have decided they just don’t want to deal with insurance, or choose to buy a big screen tv that month instead of buy or pay their insurance, are getting better coverage than we are. We are footing their bill. What could be better for them?

Does Matt think they’ll get the ride all the way thru on the governments dime? He’s crazy. We see how the government is running the car companies. What makes him think they won’t do the same with health care. Government is not going to pay for all the treatments people need regardless if it’s cancer or any other long term treatment–or short for that matter.

From the looks of it from my pocketbook, I’d be willing to pay out of pocket for any treatments I might need that are not covered, AND I will pay grossly inflated amounts to help others who don’t have insurance. But don’t, please don’t, make me get treated for any possible illness or disease on the government’s dime. THEY DON’T HAVE ONE. Oh yeah, thats right… they’ll print one which will then deflate the dollar which will increase my taxes to pay for that! So instead of paying twice for my insurance and theirs, I’ll get hit a third time. p>

Nice try Matt, subtly trying to push the nationalized healthcare agenda because of the “poor” uninsured. We don’t want it, and though the uninsured might not realize it, neither do they.
